Cotswold Canals Book

Cotswold Canals - Front CoverFollowing a long tradition of producing in-house publications, volunteers from the Cotswold Canals Trust are pleased to be releasing a new book “Cotswold Canals”.

The book is intended to fill a gap in the market by providing a low-cost introduction to the Stroudwater Navigation and the Thames & Severn Canal. Enthusiasts should also be satisfied; the book draws on a wide range of new sources to ensure that almost all of the photographs in the book have never been published before.

Colour maps show the canals’ path through Gloucestershire and Wiltshire whilst chapters cover the history, describe the route and features, and sum up restoration so far. The book has been written to describe the canal both pre and post restoration.

David Jowett, who put the book together, said, “The new book is being released just at the right time when major restoration is about to get under way. Our aims are to inform, raise the profile of the canals and raise funds too!”. As the book was produced by volunteers, all profits will be ploughed into furthering restoration of the Cotswold Canals.
